Overview
Palna (پالنا, "cradle") is a calm, simple baby tracker for families in Pakistan. Parents log feeds, sleep, diapers, growth, vaccines and medicines in a few taps, in English, Urdu or Roman Urdu, and one shared log keeps parents, grandparents and helpers on the same timeline on their own phones.
It's built around local needs: Pakistan's national EPI vaccine schedule with reminders, desi first foods and baby recipes, emergency numbers and hot-weather advice. For families abroad it includes vaccine schedules for the UK, US, Canada, UAE and Saudi Arabia.
The app works fully offline, has no ads and no tracking, and draws its health content from WHO, NHS, CDC and the EPI programme.
Screens

What it does
One-tap logging
Feeds, naps and diapers, even one-handed at 3 am.
Timers that keep running
Left/right feeding and sleep timers survive app restarts, with an ongoing notification and home-screen widget.
Family sharing
Invited caregivers see the same live log on their own phones.
Vaccines & reminders
Pakistan EPI schedule plus five other countries, with reminders before each visit.
Growth & health
WHO growth charts, weight-gain checks, medicines with reminders, symptoms and illness tracking.
Reports for the doctor
7- and 30-day reports with typical ranges, and a one-page PDF to share on WhatsApp.
Desi first foods
Food guides and 15 baby recipes, from lauki purée at 6 months to qeema aloo at 10.
Milestones & memories
CDC milestone checklists, a daily journal and monthly baby photos.
Engineering highlights
Offline-first sync across caregivers
The app only reads and writes a local SQLite database. PowerSync streams each family's rows from Supabase Postgres and uploads local changes, with soft deletes so removals reach every phone.
Timers as data
Running timers are stored in synced rows rather than in app memory, so they survive restarts and show up live on every family member's phone.
Content without app updates
Vaccine schedules are stored as data per country, so a new country reaches phones without a store release.
Right-to-left Urdu done properly
Full Nastaliq Urdu next to English and Roman Urdu, with bundled fonts so text renders offline, in the app and the trilingual website.
Shipping iOS without a Mac
Codemagic builds and signs the iOS app for TestFlight. Store screenshots in 3 languages × 2 themes are generated automatically from golden tests.
